Obama/King

Some similar things between the two speeches is that they were both hard to read and very long. But they both focused on the struggle it has been for African-Americans previous to their speeches, and how they would like to change that for the future. Obama's focused more on his life, not just as a black man but a mixed man and how that was growing up. Being raised as a Muslim and then moving to Christianity later in life. How his pastor, at his local church, was very controversial in the fact that his sermons were very negative to the United States. But Obama still stands behind his pastor. He talked about not only helping the African-American group, but all different groups all over the world, because his family is so mixed.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech was more like a history lesson, comparing historical figures like Socrates, Hitler, or different reverends. Just comparing them to situations that African-Americans go through. Or historical events like the Boston Tea Party. He also mentioned that we need to improve the churches or America by capturing the sacrificial spirit of the early churches. And if we don't, people might turn to a different leader.
Both speeches are saying that they want to improve the life of the American-American people, we have come a long ways since Martin Luther King, Jr. made his speech, but there is still speeches for equal rights for blacks. Maybe not so much for equal rights, but just for respect, because their is still a lot of racist people in this world. And we have a long ways to go before we can eliminate that hatred, if we ever can.

Spring Break '08

Scott and three of his friends drove down to Panama City Beach, Florida. It was a 22-23 hours drive there, and the gang saw some interesting things on the way there. Whether it was going through Inna and Dickes, Illinois or the entire state of Alabama. Once they got to Florida the weather was very good, it was at least 60s and sunny everyday except for one. On days it was sunny, the gang hung out at the beach for about three hours, then came back to the room, got ready to go out to dinner, and then what ever the night had in stored. A couple nights we went to a club, one was a smaller club, but it had a cool foam party. Then the other was the biggest club in the United States (Club La Vela). Scott didn't really like that club much because it was too crowded. Then he jumped in the pool with his clothes on, but he forgot his cell phone was still in his pocket, and he broke it. All in all the gang had a good time and might do the same thing next year.

Family

My family contains myself, my parents and my brother. My parents are in their early 50s and they are both middle/high school teachers. My dad is in business and my mom is in FACS. My older brother, Brett 22, is going to school in Springfield, Missouri to earn his doctorite in Psychology. He is married to my sister-in-law Erica, whom we will go see on Thursday for Easter. We are a family that loves to travel, when Brett and I were at home, we would go on at least two vacations a year. One down to Texas, at Christmas where my grandma has a place, and then another the summertime. The summer trip can range anywhere around the country or Mexico. Now it is a little more difficult, but we still try to travel somewhere together.

paper

I know I am two and a half hours late, but I was driving home by three and I thought the dealine was at seven. Anyway, I want to write about how steroids is not bad for baseball. I started to reasearch it on Wednesday. I went into my floor's lounge, found a good article, and was in there for three hours. Problem is, I didn't get any work done. But I will get some information eventually, I just won't go to my lounge when I need to do work. My concerns with this paper is that I won't find enough information on how steroids is not bad. I could easily write on six page paper on my opinion, but finding others may be difficult. Considering everything out there on steroids is bad.

A modest proposal

The proposal will greatly lessen the number of papists, who are the most dangerous enemy. The poor tentants will receive something of value to help pay off their rent, food or cattle. The nations stock will increase 50,000 pounds per annum. Bring great customs to taverns, which they can then fix up anything that needs to be dealt with. And then protecting women, because they are the carriers of our children. Then they want their children to get big so they can sell them? I am not really sure, it was hard to understand the reading.
